The MAS ETH IP is a one-year full-time bilingual postgraduate program introducing students to all aspects of intellectual property law, including patent, trademark, copyright, design protection and competition law as well as licensing agreements, IP management and strategic protection issues.

The program, which has been offered by the ETH for over ten years and which is recognized by the European Patent Office, is primarily intended for engineers and graduates with a degree in technology, science, or business management from Europe, America, or Asia. Graduates from the MAS ETH IP are well equipped for a career in patent law firms, patent departments in large companies, or as technology transfer experts, innovation advisers, and license brokers. 75% of the classes are taught in English, 25% are taught in German.

Whether you are a a current student, a lecturer or an alumnus, you will find plenty of information about the MAS ETH IP on this website.

Please note that, out of strategic considerations, the Executive Board of the ETH Zurich has decided in November 2009 not to offer the MASIP program again in the study year 2010/2011. Instead, the ETH Zurich will use the freed up resources to increase the education of its bachelor and master students in patent, copyright, trademark and design law as well as innovation management. For any questions on this matter, please consult Prof. Stefan Bechtold.
